Rain Stops the Renovation, I Plan the Garden
SOMETHING HAS TO GROW AROUND HERE
The Oregon weather had other plans for our Renovation Saga.
When it’s too wet to work outside, there’s not much point in trying to fight it. So instead of working on the house and yard, I decided to sit down with my seeds and start planning what I’m actually going to grow.
This year I’m taking part in two gardening collaborations: #SurvivalSeeds2026 and #GrowWhatUEat26.
That meant going through the seeds I already have, figuring out what I want to plant, and thinking about what might actually grow well here on the Oregon Coast.
Because apparently, after spending months dealing with roofs, mold, trees, ivy and everything else the property has thrown at us, I thought adding a garden to the list sounded like a good idea. 😂
But honestly, I’m excited about this part.
The garden is one of the things I’m really looking forward to creating from scratch—or at least as close to scratch as you can get when you inherit twelve years of overgrowth and neglect.
So while the rain puts the renovation work on hold, the garden planning continues.
Seeds don’t care if it’s raining. 🌱
