Survival Seeds is a community of gardeners, growers and YouTube creators coming together to grow food, save seeds, share what we learn and have a little fun along the way.
For 2027, Survival Seeds is getting a little bit of a makeover! 🌱 We’re keeping the heart of the collaboration—gardening, seeds, learning and community—but adding some new ways for growers to connect and participate. SS27 will include monthly gardening challenges, a community seed swap, regular livestreams featuring grower recognition and gardening experts, and occasional giveaways when sponsors make them possible. The goal isn’t to make things bigger or more complicated—it’s simply to make Survival Seeds more interactive, fun and rewarding for everyone who takes part. 💜🌱
Survival Seeds began in 2024 with The Vineyard Chicks, who were still in high school when they came up with the idea.
Their goal was simple: get seeds into the hands of people who might not have any, while creating a community where gardeners of every experience level could learn, share, and grow together. 🌱
They did an amazing job turning that idea into a real community. But life has changed. Those high-school girls have grown into young women with careers and new responsibilities, and they no longer have the time Survival Seeds deserves.
So, they are trusting me to take the reins and guide Survival Seeds into its next chapter.
I’m honored to carry forward what they started—and excited to see just how much this little community can grow. 🌱💚
MONTHLY GARDEN CHALLENGES
A New Way to Share Seeds 🌱
Starting with Survival Seeds 2027, we’re giving our seed-sharing tradition a fresh new twist! 🌱 Instead of seeds being provided and shipped by the organizers, growers will have the opportunity to share seeds from their own gardens with fellow collaborators. It’s a simple way to pass along a little piece of your garden, discover something new from another grower, and build an even stronger sense of community as we grow together. 💜
Our first community seed swap will take place in January to March 2027. Beginning with Survival Seeds 2028, the annual seed swap will move to October through December, giving gardeners time after the growing season to harvest, save and prepare seeds to share.
