I Quit My Job and Moved to Canada
There comes a point when you realize something isn’t just a bad week anymore. My teaching job had been something I genuinely loved, but things changed, and eventually I knew it was time to leave.
So I quit.
I didn’t have another job lined up, but I wasn’t exactly jumping into the unknown alone. Dave and Mom were both retired and collecting pensions, so neither of them needed to worry about finding work. We had also been talking for years about moving back to Canada. I was born there, we’d always wondered what it would be like to live there again, and we hoped the healthcare system might be better for Mom.
That last part didn’t work out quite the way we expected. But that’s another story. 😉

We liked the Nanaimo area, so the decision was made. We packed up our lives and headed north, with me figuring I’d find a job, do some freelance work, or maybe start another business once we got settled.
I’d reinvented myself before. I figured I’d do it again.
I had no idea we’d end up staying in Canada for twelve years—or that the move would eventually lead me in a completely different direction.
And that’s where the next chapter began. 🇨🇦💜
